Snapshots of Life at LP
Meet Tim Safstrom
What has your career trajectory at LP looked like?
When I started with LP, I made it clear that I wanted to move into a leadership role. I soon realized that the role I wanted to work towards was that of being a GM. I love the idea of being able to help provide an environment in which others can achieve their goals.
The only way I am where I am today is the people who have supported me and the environment that was provided. I cannot stress enough that having peers and your leadership support you in your career path is essential.
How do you explain what you do for a living to family and friends?
I explain that I manage a sales team. My job is to grow that team and help provide an environment in which the team can achieve their personal goals and have fun doing so.
How do you keep your team motivated?
I think one of the biggest challenges in our sales roles is the propensity for becoming short sighted. There are so many short term/immediate goals that we can get too caught up in our feelings about our current successes or failures. My goal is to keep myself and my team focused on the whole picture, both short and long term. “It’s win or learn, no losses”
