Klaviyo Makes Omnichannel Moves With New Social Marketing Integration

Social media has always been where brands build an audience. The challenge has been turning that audience into owned, revenue-generating data. Klaviyo’s new Social Marketing integration closes that gap, connecting Instagram engagement directly to customer profiles and putting social alongside email, SMS, WhatsApp, and push in a single platform.

Klaviyo Social Marketing connects a brand’s Instagram (and Facebook) account directly to Klaviyo, turning followers, commenters, and DMs into subscribers and enriched customer profile data. In practice, that means:

    • Automated Instagram replies. Set up keyword-triggered DM automations, so a follower commenting “code” or “gift” on a post can receive a discount code and be prompted for email, text, or WhatsApp consent, without anyone on the team manually replying.
    • Profile enrichment from social activity. Every tag, comment, story mention, or DM gets logged as an event on that person’s Klaviyo profile, including which post they engaged with and their follower count. That data can be used to identify high-follower engagers worth an affiliate or UGC conversation.
    • List growth straight from Instagram. Followers can opt in to email, SMS, and WhatsApp via a comment or DM; no separate signup form required.
    • Dynamic, social-driven email content. Automations can pull in a brand’s most recent Instagram post as live banner imagery in a welcome series or campaign, reinforcing the connection between the platform where someone found a brand and the inbox where they hear from it next.
    • Unified outbound management. Social sits alongside Klaviyo’s existing email, SMS, WhatsApp, and push capabilities, so a single campaign can span all channels from a single platform.

Most brands are sitting on more social equity than their email marketing and SMS programs reflect. Someone who tags a brand in a Story or DMs a question shows real intent, but until now, that engagement has lived on Instagram and nowhere else. Klaviyo Social Marketing closes that loop by converting social interactions into subscriber records and giving brands a way to capitalize on the audience they’ve already built, rather than starting a second acquisition channel from scratch.

It also simplifies execution. Instead of managing Instagram engagement in one tool and email/SMS in another, brands can run automated replies, list growth, and enriched segmentation from the same Klaviyo platform driving the rest of their lifecycle marketing. It’s the same principle behind aligning email and paid social: the more channels speak to each other, the stronger the customer experience.

Based on early use cases, this integration delivers the most value for brands already investing in a strong paid social presence, particularly those with:

    • Community-driven audiences — food and beverage, parenting, hobbyist, and lifestyle brands where followers actively engage rather than passively scroll
    • Frequent product launches or drops — brands regularly posting new releases have more ongoing engagement to convert
    • UGC and affiliate-reliant marketing — the ability to segment by follower count and engagement makes it easier to surface potential affiliates or ambassadors without manually combing through comments

Social Marketing is the latest piece of Klaviyo’s push toward a true omnichannel platform, one where email, SMS, WhatsApp, push, and now social all live under a single campaign structure and a single customer profile. It follows closely on the heels of Klaviyo’s K:AI launch, another sign that Klaviyo is investing heavily in making its platform smarter and more connected. For brands, that means fewer disconnected tools and a clearer, more complete view of every customer, from first Instagram tag to lifetime email subscriber.
